Welcome to the Tacoma Public Library's 2012 Summer Reading Headquarters! The Tacoma Public Library has three reading clubs this summer so that the entire family can join, read and have lots of fun. Each club begins on Saturday, June 16 and ends on Saturday, August 11. The first day you can sign up and join the club is Saturday, June 2. You can join the club at your neighborhood library or online (see links below). Each club has its own rules and prizes (and we have very exciting prizes for summer readers). Our libraries are filled with special programs and events including magic shows, puppets, music, family crafts, gaming, and lots more. | Dream Big - Read! This club is for youngsters from birth through 5th grade. Parents are encouraged to read to their very young children. Everyone completing the club receives tickets to the zoo (featuring a performance by the Great JuggleMania Vaudeville Show); 2 free games of bowling; your choice of a flashlight, plush star or photo frame; and a very cool library browsing bag (while supplies last). Two lucky readers who read and report on ten books will each win a new laptop computer! We have great weekly prizes, including tickets to the Puyallup Fair and the Tacoma Rainiers. (More Information). | | Own the Night Teens (in 6th through 12th grades) have their own summer reading challenge. Every time you read and report on a book you receive a free game of bowling courtesy of our friends at Narrows Plaza Bowl! When you report on your first 10 books (or 8 books and two library events) you receive tickets to the zoo (featuring a performance by the Great JuggleMania Vaudeville Show) and two Party Rats (while supplies last). Every time you report you are entered into a drawing for a new iPad. (More information). | | Between the Covers! The Tacoma Public Library has a reading club just for adults! Read and report on five books over the eight-week club and you just might win a new iPad! Everyone completing the club receives a free game of bowling from Narrows Plaza Bowl, a reading notebook and a Tacoma Public Library bookbag (while supplies last). (More information). |
